Declaration of Gratitude
Great Mother Ocean! We sing to you. We pray to you. You are sacred! Mother Ocean! Water-Cradle! You who are the birthing fluid of our Beloved Mother Earth, this is our day of Gratitude. This is our day to attend to You, beloved.
Great Mother Ocean! Hear us, hear our song, feel our rhythm, for we come to You to refresh You, to rejuvenate Your weary soul, to wash away Your sorrow, quench Your constant thirst, cool Your lonely fevers, as we attend to You this day. For this day we sing Your praise, we dance to Your power, we praise You, and we honor You.
We are your children! SONG with Circle Dancing (all drums etc.): We All Come from the Goddess
Prayer to the Ocean
Great Mother Ocean!
Hear us; listen with Your endless heart! We call upon You today! We call upon you, the Ocean, and We call upon all Powers and Spirits benign and beneficial within You, to receive our prayers. Receive and strengthen all that is given here today! Draw the blessings into Your calling tide. Receive it all, purifying and empowering Your great Salt River. Receive it all, receive the strong and loving energy we give You this day. Take it to Your heart, dear Mother, that You may be nourished.
We are your children!
Song: Earth Mother, we honor your body
Work: (Note: Participant has been abbreviated to "P" in the following instructions.) The Meditation (to allow each cup to become huge and full of its life form, and any other life forms overlooked or unknown; to be fertile and powerful. Participants merge their energies to enhance visualizing the blessings of each cup joining with the others to spread the Healing out into the water as deep and as far as it needs to go.)
The Ohm Chant (See notes) Directing all energy and power to the cups in the Circle. Participants hold out their hands over the cups as they chant, to sound of Tsing Cha and slow drumming. The Blessing Each P. takes a cup from the Circle and walks to the water's edge. P's stands in, or near, the Water, says a personal prayer, washes their face or hands with water from the Ocean, or otherwise expresses a personal message for this moment. P. then pours out the water from the cup into the ocean. Depending upon the number of people, this can be done in groups. Empty cups are returned to the center of the Circle for later burning, or burned if there is a central fire.
Blessing/Releasing: As Participants are praying and releasing the water in the cups:
Chant: Elle, Elle, Tau Mai ("May Great Peace Descend") (with rainsticks and/or soft drumming) while continuing the visualization of the blessings spreading the Healing out into the water as deep and as far as they need to go.
